Charleston Proposal | Croix + Kendall

When your work is never truly work because you have the gift of engaging in a craft that you love, it’s all the more special when you have the opportunity to gift that work for the people that you love as well.

Today my dear brother Croix and his lovely fiancé Kendall are getting married (and I have the pleasure of standing with them as a bridesmaid!), so it only seems fitting that I share some favorite moments from their beautiful Charleston proposal at Folly Beach on February 1st, 2019.

The Washout is a not-so-secret “secret” little stretch of Folly Beach, tucked a short hike off the beaten path. No matter how clear and sun-washed the day is on the main beach strip, the Washout is always a touch more grey and moody, and perfectly scattered with salt-weathered driftwood and hunks of cheerfully graffiti-ed foundation concrete.

Once you’ve walked along the Washout a ways, a lighthouse nested offshore evokes memories of secret meeting places and the old-time romance that we only know from the movies…so naturally it was also the perfect place for Kendall to stumble upon a hidden message in a bottle from her love, asking for her forever “yes”.

The ease and joy Croix and Kendall have with one another was the perfect offset to the Washout locale of their Charleston proposal, and I loved being present to capture such a precious landmark in their relationship. I hope y’all love viewing their session just as much as I did shooting it. Wishing the happiest of wedding days to my brother and his gorgeous bride, and many joy-filled years to come!
