Joe + Gina are engaged! | Charleston Wedding Photographer

One of the best parts of my job is getting to spend time with amazing people. This usually translates to meeting new couples and watching them enjoy each other’s company surrounded by their family and friends, but this Charleston engagement session was a little different…

I’d like you to meet Joe and Gina. I have known Gina since we were little girls, but haven’t seen her in years. It was an absolute pleasure getting to see her after so long and for such an incredible occasion – celebrating her and Joe’s recent engagement!

We walked all around downtown Charleston and I was able to photograph them in some of their favorite spots. We even took photos at the waterfront pier, where Joe told Gina for the first time that he would marry her one day. How sweet is that?

I know we’ve talked about what to wear to your engagement sessions before, but I want to share a few additional tips…

  • Take inspiration from your location. I adore the way Gina’s deep blue dress pops off the complimentary neutral backgrounds.
  • Don’t forget accessories! Necklaces, earrings, scarves, hats, etc. – accessories add an gorgeous layer of texture to images that help bring the entire aesthetic together.
  • If you are wearing something special – like an heirloom piece… maybe earrings handed down from your grandmother, tell me! I’ll snag a coupe detail shots to make sure we have that item documented in a special way.
  • Simple is a great thing. A bit of print/pattern can be a nice accent, but avoid garments that will take over your images. We want your beautiful faces and love story to be the focus of your photos!

And a side note, embrace the opportunity to add props to a selection of your photos. Just be sure to let me know in advance! I love it when I receive emails from couples before their session with snapshots of props they plan to bring. This allows me to plan ahead of time to make sure we capture the images you’ve been dreaming of.

Joe and Gina, I wish you all the best and pray that God continues to bless your love story!
