As a Charleston Family Photographer I had the honor of photographing this beautiful Charleston Family as they welcomed their sweet baby home to Daniel Island in Charleston, South Carolina. I cannot even begin to explain how excited I was when Miss Camilla’s parents, Doug and Christin, contacted me to set up her one year photos for next week! The time has flown by and I’m thankful for the opportunity to capture these special moments for the Walker family.

One of the things I love about being an Annapolis family photographer is that I get to capture all of the little details about the family I’m working with. Toes, eyelashes, fingers, lips, noses, etc. You name it, I love it!
While many family photos are held outdoors, newborn photos are typically taken indoors. They often feature the baby’s nursery and any other comfy areas where the family spends their time lovin’ on each other. Maybe rocking in a chair purchased just for that purposes or snuggled up on the parents’ bed.
You’ve put so much time and effort into preparing your home for your little bundle of joy, this is a great opportunity to show it off!

Wondering if you should have newborn photos taken? Here’s my completely biased opinion… DO IT! 😉
Seriously though – while the days are long, the years are short and the newborn stage does not last. Since you don’t really have time for a “do-over”, make sure the photographer you hire has a current portfolio with a consistent style that matches the look and feel you like. Don’t be afraid to share your vision for the images and notes about any special pieces that need to be included like heirlooms or special décor items.
