How to plan a destination wedding in Colorado! | Colorado Springs Wedding Photographer

HannahLane - Colorado Springs Wedding Photographer

Destination weddings come in all shapes and sizes. They are customized to fit the specific interests and needs of each couple, to help them celebrate their special day in an incredible way at a beautiful location! Here are six tips to help you plan a destination wedding in Colorado Springs!

1. Define your budget.

It’s so important to know how much money you have to spend. This one simple factor defines your entire event! Budgets are especially important when it comes to destination weddings, as they must include a variety of non-traditional items including travel expenses. You don’t need to plan every detail in advance and budgets always need room for adjustments, but an overall budget will get you off to a great start!

2. Choose a venue that you love!

There are so many GORGEOUS wedding venues in Colorado. Pick a location that has some special meaning to you or maybe it’s just a beautiful place you’ve seen photos of and just adore.

3. Don’t forget about your guests.

Your wedding day revolves around you, but don’t forget about your friends and family that will be there to help you celebrate. Make sure your venue can accomodate whatever number of guests you choose to invite and keep in mind that if you’re traveling, chances are your guests are also. That said, you’ll want to make sure that some type of accomodations are nearby for those who are making the trip.

4. Visit in advance.

If you have the option, make a trip to your destination prior to making any major choices. This will allow you the opportunity to visit different venues and meet other wedding vendors that you might consider hiring.

5. Talk to a wedding planner.

If you can’t visit your destination before or during the planning process, please get in touch with a wedding planner! Not only will they help releive a lot of stress when it comes to planning your special day – but they know the area. They’re familiar with all of your options when it comes to venues and vendors, and might even have some fun ideas to help you really customize your event.

6. Call me to discuss your wedding photography!

  • Amen to tip #5 haha. I do alot of destination weddings and those clients usually come to me because they thought the planning process would be so much easier but it’s a lot harder to find vendors when you live in a different state or different country!
