Bella + Kacie | Charleston Portrait Session

Sharing love with y’all never gets old, especially when it’s a Charleston portrait session. Today I get to share a session of a type of love that is particularly close to my own heart: the love between a momma and her babe. Kacie is my talented friend and mother to baby Bella, as well as makeup artist and the owner of Charleston-based Lashes and Lace (she recently did my own sister-in-law’s wedding and was amazing!).

We did their shoot in downtown Charleston against a backdrop of lush ivy, blooming florals and aged bricks. Kacie and her mini-me Bella were flawless in summer rompers; Kacie kept it classic in vertical stripes and Bella rocked some fabulous florals!

The lowcountry gas lanterns are a downtown architecture staple and are often spotted hanging over a wrought iron gate or cheerfully illuminating the path to a carriage house. No matter how stifling the summer heat gets, the warm glow of a gas lantern nestled in ivy welcomes and evokes a sense of home and hospitality that is close to the heart of Charleston. I am happy that a few of these lanterns made it into Kacie and Bella’s session, because Kacie herself radiates their same warmth and kindness into both the beautiful work she does for her brides as well as her sweet relationship with Bella.

Our little babes grow so much in that first year it is unreal; we blink and they have changed from endless squishy thigh rolls to defined cheekbones and toothy grins. I loved being able to do this session for Kacie and Bella, and preserve a season that whooshes by so quickly. I hope y’all enjoy one of my favorite charleston portrait sessions!
